Sharing the Emotional Seascape Worldwide: "What We Don't Say"
A Journey from Canvas to Collection
I am excited to share that my original acrylic painting, "What We Don't Say," is having a significant moment! This deeply emotional seascape has not only found its way into a gallery, but it is now available as a full collection of unique gifts and home dΓ©cor for my global audience
This piece truly represents the power and depth of acrylic painting—capturing the raw, beautiful energy of the ocean and the intensity of human feeling.
The Story Behind the Waves: The Unspoken Landscape
"What We Don't Say" is an exploration of the powerful emotions we hold within. The dramatic image of waves crashing against jagged rocks is a metaphor for the rough beginnings of feeling—those things we carry that are potent, unformed, and deeply human.
The moody sky and rich colors reflect the quiet intensity of memory and contemplation. This painting isn't about a specific place; it’s about a universal mood.
Bring the Art Home: A New Collection on Redbubble
I hope that many of you will follow my work from across the world, and I am thrilled to announce that this powerful image is now the center of a new collection on my Redbubble shop!
You can now find "What We Don't Say" featured on high-quality, unique products like tote bags, mugs, mouse pads, and T-shirts. It's the perfect way to bring a piece of this emotional, dramatic coastal scene into your daily life.

This is a wonderful opportunity to share my acrylic work locally.

A4 photo frame for art, ideal for Etsy and Redbubble prints, minimalist design
The Artist's Framing Dilemma
If you love buying beautiful digital art prints (like the ones I sell on Etsy and Redbubble!), you know the biggest hassle is framing. The prints are often standard A4 or 8.5x11 inches, and finding a decent, affordable frame that lets you switch out your seasonal prints easily is almost impossible. You usually end up struggling to take the frame off the wall, remove the fiddly backing, and start the process all over again!
The Perfect Solution on Amazon AU
As an artist, I'm always looking for easy ways to display my work, and I recently found these brilliant Front-Opening A4 Display Frames on Amazon Australia. They solve the framing problem instantly.
The simple design means you can keep the frame securely fastened to the wall. You just unclip the front cover, swap out your print for a new one (perfect for showing off a rotating collection of my digital art!), and snap it shut. The bonus? They are designed to hold and store a stack of prints inside, keeping up to 100 A4-sized art prints flat and safe. This is a game-changer for anyone who loves updating their gallery wall with minimal fuss!
Get the Frame and Simplify Your Display
These frames are the exact solution for easily displaying standard A4 prints, whether you're framing a new piece of my bird art or a photography print. Stop struggling with the backing of old frames!
I found a great deal on the 2-pack on Amazon Australia.

From Tokyo Baseball to a Perth Footy Obsession: My Life in Sports
I grew up in Japan, and my childhood was defined by one thing: baseball. The big team was the Tokyo Giants, and my father was a huge supporter. I remember hating it when he would get angry watching them lose. It seemed like a lot of frustration over a game.
But then I grew up. And just like they say, "Blood is thicker than water." Soon, I was yelling at the TV just like him.
Touching Down in Australia: What is This Football?
I came to Perth, Australia, about 29 years ago. I looked for baseball, but here in WA, it’s not the massive obsession it was back home (though the Perth Heat exists!).
My path changed when my old share-house owner introduced me to Aussie Rules Football (AFL). I was so confused at first—"Football? Why do they use their hands? Why is the ball shaped like that?"
But once I understood the rules, I realized how exciting it is. The chaos and the incredible athleticism hooked me. Soon enough, I became a passionate supporter of the West Coast Eagles.
The Price of Loyalty
My commitment to the Eagles runs deep. I am not just a casual viewer!
My love for the Eagles isn't just about shouting at the TV in Perth. Before COVID changed the world, I flew all the way to Melbourne—three times!—to watch my boys play at the legendary MCG by myself. Standing in that massive stadium alone, surrounded by thousands of fans, was an incredible experience.
I’ve spent a lot of money, too! I have keychains, hoodies, polo shirts (my uniform!), and I even have a house key cut with the West Coast Eagles logo on it. I literally carry the team with me every day.
These days, I often go to a sports bar with a friend to watch the games on the big screen, but when the game is close, I get so nervous and restless that I physically cannot sit down. I’m too anxious! I stand up, I pace around, and my temper starts rising if the boys miss a goal. My friend is usually sitting calmly, while I am doing laps around the table.
The Wooden Spoon and the Lotto Dream
This past season was tough. My boys were no good at all—they finished right at the bottom of the ladder. π‘ It makes me upset and angry, but no matter how they play, my feeling never changes. I am an Eagle for life, and I really hope next year they will finally be good again!
If I ever win the Lotto, the first thing I am going to do is paint a massive West Coast Eagles logo right on the wall of my house. That’s how much I love them!
The Cricket Confession: Why I Cheer for the Visitors
My biggest surprise has been cricket. When I first saw a Test Match, I thought it was way too long and boring. But a few years ago, I got into it—the Big Bash, the long Tests—and now it’s just like that old song says: "I don't like cricket... I love it!"
The summer of cricket has just begun here in Perth, but I have a big confession to make. I don't support Australia! I support the visiting team, particularly the Indian team.
It started randomly. My phone is an Oppo, and they used to sponsor the Indian team. Plus, I somehow knew the name of the great Sachin Tendulkar. Now, my favorite player to watch is the fierce Virat Kohli.
I love being a bit of a rebel against the locals, but mostly, I admire the visiting team's passion. If I could go back and be young again, I would definitely learn and play cricket. I love the game's intensity too much to just watch!
π¨ The Reader Bridge
After all that yelling and pacing during the footy, I have enough energy to go back to my studio and paint! What non-art passions fuel your creativity?
If you enjoyed this story, be sure to follow me for more art and unusual life stories from Perth!

π URGENT SCAM ALERT: Did You Get an Email or Text Saying Your Account is "Suspended"?
If you use email, shop on Amazon, etc., subscribe to a service, or have any online account that holds your payment information, you must read this immediately. Scammers are trying to catch us from everywhere—via emails, text messages, and social media. I recently had a shocking experience, and the simple logic that saved me could save you, too.
The Scam Mechanism: Relying on Panic
This morning, I was targeted by a sophisticated phishing scam that tried to steal my banking details. It used an urgent email that appeared to be from a legitimate service (my Redbubble art shop).
This is the crucial detail: I nearly believed the email because the sender address was the official-looking Redbubble <noreply@redbubblemail.com>. This is how they trick you into trusting the message, even though the content is fake!
The email claimed my account was "temporarily put on hold" due to a security update and warned that my shop was no longer visible. They instructed me to click a link and complete a "secure identity verification".
I clicked the link, and the fraudulent site asked me to fill out a long form, culminating in a request for my full bank account and credit card details.
The Golden Rule That Saves Everyone
That is the exact moment I stopped myself. This logic is your greatest defense against any scammer, anywhere in the world:
If a business already has your payment details on file to pay you, or to charge you for a subscription (like Amazon or a phone plan), they will NEVER ask you to re-enter your full bank details via a random, unexpected link.
I asked myself: "My service already has my bank details. Why are they asking me to enter them again on a random form?" That logical pause saved me from giving my financial life away.
The Scammer's Exact Wording
The scammer used a bot to post the exact same malicious message as a comment on NINE of my artworks. If you receive an email or text message that contains this highly suspicious and grammatically flawed text, it is a scam:
"Your account has been temporarily put on hold due to a recent update in our security policy. This measure is crucial to safeguard your offerings and ensure a trusted, secure trading environment for all buyers and sellers on our platform. Please note that your shop are currently not visible to other users... Please complete your verification here:https://redbubble.n25order.xyz/6000iyT6GT ."
Universal Safety Checklist: Emails, Texts, and Subscriptions
The scam I experienced on Redbubble is the same tactic used across Amazon, banks, phone companies, and streaming services. Here is how to protect yourself:
Never Click the Link: Close the email or delete the text message immediately. Scammers deliver these attacks via email (Phishing) and text messages (Smishing).
Verify Directly: Instead of using the link, open a new browser tab and type the website address yourself (e.g.,
Amazon.com,YourBank.com). Log in normally. If there is a genuine problem, you will see a prominent banner on your main dashboard. The Real Red Flag: The email address was real, but the link embedded in the message was fake. Always check the URL of the link before clicking, looking for strange symbols, numbers, or domain endings like
.xyz.
I have since deleted all nine malicious comments from my shop and submitted a full report to the company.
Please share this warning with everyone you know—family, friends, and fellow shoppers. Let's protect our community by trusting our logic!
Thank you for dropping by.

The Meaning Behind the Waves: Painting the Torii Gate and Seigaiha Pattern
The Meaning Behind the Waves: Painting the Torii Gate and Seigaiha Pattern
This artwork has been a passion project, representing a beautiful fusion of spiritual symbolism and graphic design. It is an original square (1:1) piece, measuring 30.5 cm x 30.5 cm. The feeling of finality and accomplishment is wonderful, and I'm excited to share the story behind the art that took so much care and attention to detail.
Original Artwork painted by Mayumi Miyoshi (The Wild Palette by MM) is for sale on Bluethumb link below
https://bluethumb.com.au/mayumi-miyoshi/Artwork/torii-of-the-seigaiha-sea-0
The Inspiration: Symbolism in the Waves
My goal for this piece was to create a sense of strength and tranquility. I used two key elements to achieve this emotional depth:
The Torii Gate: This gate marks the sacred boundary, the transition from the mundane world into the spiritual realm. Its striking red color is meant to be a beacon of good luck and positive energy, standing firm on the rocks in the middle of the water. For me, the Torii represents a point of certainty, a constant landmark in an ever-changing sea.
The Seigaiha Pattern: This beautiful pattern translates literally to "blue ocean waves." It is an ancient Japanese motif that symbolizes power, resilience, and good fortune, specifically because the waves are endless and keep repeating. By incorporating this pattern, the artwork carries a wish for enduring peace and happiness for whoever views it.
The color choices were deliberate as well. The red of the Torii is a rich, powerful choice. I blended Cadmium Red with a touch of deep black to give it a solid, grounded presence against the bright sky, ensuring it is the undeniable focal point. The blues in the water and the Seigaiha pattern are carefully layered—starting with a deep Ultramarine Blue beneath the surface, graduating to a lighter Sky Blue at the horizon. This specific layering creates a sense of profound depth and helps to focus the viewer's eye on the powerful gate itself.
By placing the bright red Torii firmly in the center of the powerful blue and white waves, I hope to evoke a feeling of stability and peace, even when surrounded by the chaos and movement of life.
The Process: Painting in Acrylics
As a painter who loves working with acrylics, I enjoyed the challenge of creating such a bold, graphic look on a small canvas. This artwork demanded both the fluidity of painting and the precision of illustration.
The square format of the 30.5 cm x 30.5 cm canvas allows the image to feel perfectly balanced and complete, which is crucial for maximizing the visual impact of such a graphic design. Layering the background sky took several sessions to build the perfect gradient, transitioning smoothly from a soft pink sunset into the deep blue of the sky above.
Working with acrylics, the main technical challenge was maintaining the sharp, clean edges of the white outlines within the Seigaiha pattern. I carefully applied the paint in thin, deliberate layers to ensure the bright colors did not bleed together. The final, most satisfying step was applying the pure white highlights for the wave caps and the single, fluffy cloud in the sky—details that truly make the landscape feel alive.
